Federico Albanese

Federico Albanese is an Italian pianist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, known for his vast musical palette that leads him to explore different areas of music, ranging from minimalist piano soundscapes to orchestral compositions, with an established career and over 100 million streams. He is notably known for composing the original score of the first feature film by Iranian-British director Sasha Nathwani, Last Swim, which won the Crystal Bear at the 2024 Berlinale. His film compositions, blending contemporary, classical, pop, and electronic music, stand out for their meditative beauty.

Federico draws inspiration from artists of the past, and sometimes from elements unrelated to instrumental music. What motivates him is pushing boundaries and creating something new. His influences include Edith Piaf, Miles Davis, Captain Beefheart, Robert Wyatt, as well as the bands Traffic and Television.

Albanese composes for television, ballet, fashion shows, advertising, and above all for cinema. He is known for the documentary The Twelve, which explores spiritual traditions through various people and communities around the world. In 2022, he composed the music for the film Autumn Beat, directed by Antonio Dikele Distefano for Amazon Prime Video. His compositions have also been featured in productions such as Generation on HBO and Sir Alex on the BBC.

In 2024, he also composed the score for the film Sei Fratelli by Simone Godano, starring Riccardo Scamarcio, Adriano Giannini, and Valentina Bellè.

Albanese is also known for his solo albums. He released in 2022 Before and Now Seems Infinite on Mercury KX/Decca Records, home to many innovative talents such as Anoushka Shankar or Jonny Greenwood. Then Days of Passage in 2023 and Blackbirds and the Sun of October on XXIM Records in 2025.

“Professionally I grew up as a touring artist, making records, going on tour, and I bring all of that experience into making film scores as well. I want my soundtracks to feel like a record that is being released by the director and me.”

Federico Albanese is represented by Grande Ourse in collaboration with Evolution Music Partners for EMEA (excluding the UK).
