Ahmet Kenan Bilgiç is a London-based, award-winning Turkish multi-genre composer, musician, celebrated for his distinctive approach to storytelling through sound. His work bridges Eastern and Western cultures, through a blend of traditional influences and contemporary innovation, continually redefining the boundaries of musical expression.

Throughout his career, Bilgiç has built a vibrant and versatile portfolio that spans acclaimed Netflix productions and independent films awarded at major international festivals including Tribeca, and Sundance. After winning Best Music at the Istanbul Film Festival for his debut feature Merry-Go-Round, he went on to compose for Butterflies (Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner) and Leylak (Tribeca Best Short Fiction Award), and crafted the haunting soundscape of Ivy (Sarmaşık), where ship noises and synths intertwine to mirror the film’s psychological tension. In 2023, Bilgiç composed for Netflix’s record-breaking series Who Were We Running From? , the platform’s most-watched global show of April that year.

Beyond the screen, his multidisciplinary work expands into contemporary performance and immersive theatre. His live dance-mapping performance Substratum earned Best Sound Design and Best Music at the UK Theatre and Tech Awards 2018, while his score for the experimental film Hakkı – built around cello and analog synthesis – received Best Music at the 35th Ankara International (2025) Film Festival.

He is also the founding member and frontman of GEVENDE, the cult progressive band that recently celebrated its 20th anniversary – a group renowned for its invented language, improvisational depth, and boundary-breaking fusion of sound and meaning. It describes the musical world he created with Gevende as “Music From Neverland”  a universe where genres dissolve, words lose their literal meaning, and emotion becomes the only language.

Bilgiç has served as a jury member at the Istanbul Film Festival and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, and spent six years on the board of MSG, Turkey’s leading music rights organization.
