Father Joe, World Premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival – music by Matteo Locasciulli

05.09.2026

Matteo Locasciulli’s soundtrack for Father Joe, directed by Barthélemy Grossmann, is headed to Venice for its World Premiere on Saturday 5th as the opening film for the 2026 Venice International Film Festival Out Of Competition.

Starring Kiefer Sutherland, Al Pacino and Ever Anderson.

In 1990s New York, a priest named Joe becomes a vigilante as he battles against a ruthless gang of criminals.

The score connects Giu’s (Pacino) mob world with Joe’s (Sutherland) religious universe, blending crime and sacred elements to blur the lines between good and evil. The sacred musical tone also reflects both characters, men corrupted by power who come to see themselves as God.

Matteo Locasciulli is represented by Grande Ourse.
